Considering adopting this dog.

After looking for a while I found a lady in Northern Utah, not far from where I live, who has the predicament of not being able to let her Great Dane run loose in the yard and get the excersise she needs. She is not comfortable with keeping her tied up all of the time and is getting rid of her because of it. Hello again everyone! I haven't been on here since we got our baby boy way back in August.I am new to this breed and have never been so happy with a puppy in my life!!! What a great dog. We purchased our dog from a breeder on August 17th. He was 9lbs. Today, my sweet baby is 50lbs at 4.5 months old! He has been amazing with my kids, has had only three accidents in the house which all were very soon after we got him, is completely crate trained, and loves his mommy more than anything...

As you guys know, I wasn't planning on taking Luke out trick or treating, worrying that it would be too much for him, so Patty took Tyler and my sister Leah and I stayed with Grampy.
Well it turned out that Luke and I were the ones handing out treats and he did SO well! He licked this little boy ((must have been 1 year or more)) right on the chops. We practiced sit/stay..down/stay at the door when the kids were coming into the porch,...

So this year one of my projects was putting up a fence. I live in a..... not so savoury neighborhood, and although I've LOVED danes since I was wee(haha), it didnt hurt that they were of a formidable size. A good portion of my vicinty owns mastiffs/american bulldogs, and even though they are illegal here, one guy tied his two pits up to his truck...IN THE FREAKING ALLEY. yes, I did report them to animal services, not because they were pits but because they were chained to a vehicle making...

This morning was busy, I had a bunch of errands to run and of course Luke came with us. We stopped off at Mom's and asked her if she wanted me to bring Luke in to meet the whole gang, she said fine so we went in.

Kosmo and kitten

So my 12 week old pup LOVES to play with my kitten. They play prety rough right now, but I'm worried when Kosmo grows to his full size that he will seriously hurt him. Do any of you guys have a cat and Dane that play together? Is there anything I should do to make sure no one gets injured?

Hi Everyone,
I have been looking for a new collar for Colbi now that she is pretty well grown. I would like a nice latigo leather. Trouble is I want something unique as it will be her only clothing for the rest of her life. So off to the internet. The one I found that I love is hand beaded by women in Africa. It is really nice and also pricey so I was wondering what you all think about the beaded thing. Remember the beaded belts and things like that. They seemed pretty sturdy and all but...

We have to sit at the end of our drive to give out candy so that the children don't have to walk up the hill. My husband and I were thinking it might be a good idea to take Mason with us so he could be around the children. We have no children and this would be a good chance to get him around them. What do you guys think?

No matter what dog he meets, they just don't want to play lol. Tyler's friend Anita just showed up with her two new puppies, they're border collie/shepard/lab mixes...cute little things. Anywho the boy was willing to hang out with Luke a bit but the girl was growling and barking at him.
All he wants to do is play, he was actually very good with them, not nearly as rough...

Cross walks

Have any of you ever noticed you dogs didn't like cross walks?
Luke is excellent on a leash, has been since the first time I put one on him really, and getting the "Heel" command down to a science...but for some reason whenever we get to a cross walk or any place where we cross a street, he just wants to RUN across. Once we get on the other side he's back to heeling perfectly.

Mason had a bad day.

Yesterday Mason fell off the couch. I heard him yelping and ran in to the living room to see what the problem was. He was laying on his back flopping around like a fish out of water and yelping like crazy! I am guessing he fell on his hip because he had it tensed up and his leg curled in towards his belly. My floor is hard wood so I am sure it hurt pretty bad. He did not want me touching him and when I turned him over to walk he limped away with the same leg held up. I was running late for...

We might be going over to Mom's...where there are 3 standard poodles and a papillion. Luke hasn't met Bailey the oldest standard or the little one Lady yet. We shall see. Bailey is a much harder dog to predict, not as laid back as Kayla and Iaasak were.
The good thing is Mom has crates and gates to put up, so if they do get out of hand we can always put them in a safe place til they calm down. It should be fun though to have 5 dogs in a little house.

Its amazing what we go through to keep our puppies from harm.

On Saturday my wife and I were walking Mack down a trail toward a dog park. We like to make sure Mack's high energy is used up by the time we get to the dog park so we walk the mile and a half on a trail next to the creek at a pretty good clip. Malk normally walks between us (if not between us he goes through all kinds of gyrations to look around the person next to him to find his other parent). So we were walking...

Last night Patty was over, and she pointed out something that I just caught Luke in again this morning.
Basically what happened last night was: Hailie my cat, decided she was tired of being left out and crawled into my lap for a snuggle. Luke was on the other couch sulking but didn't dare come over and try to fight for a spot because earlier, he had barked at Hailie and she took at him ((never actually touched him but from the sounds of it you'd think she ripped...

So I read about a little girl getting scalped by a Dane on the forum. It got me thinking about things. I did not really think about what I was doing when I got Mason. He was the cutest thing! He was just another puppy. Now I see how fast he is growing and it is starting to sink in just how big he is going to be. I am a little scared about what I may have got myself in to. I love this guy sooooooo very much. He already amounts to the best dog I have ever had. I am just starting to think about...

Hey I am a new Great Dane owner. I got my Mason about 2 months ago. He is 3 months old. I have him on Iams large breed puppy food.(Vet recommended) I am so freaked out!!! I have been told that he does not need to eat puppy food and to put him on regular large breed dog food. My sister raises English Mastif show dogs and she is the one that told me this. Her dogs are very large like Mason will be and she said this will cause him to grow too fast. Does she know more than the vet? I have also...
