swallowed a nylabone |
Lead | ||
|
was trying to clean up and mason was under my feet the whole time,so I figured I'd give him a distraction and gave him a regular size nylabone. (approx. 4
to 5"). 5 minutes later he was under my feet again and found that odd because they always occupy him until I take them away. Can't find it anywhere,
so I assume he ate it or swallowed it whole or in a fairly large piece. called the vet and they told me to watch him for the next two days for vomiting or lack
of bowel movements. The nylabones I give him are the bacon flavored ones with no plastic or stuff like that in them and the packet says they are highly
digestible, but I'm worried about my baby boy. Anybody got any experience with this or things to look out for??????

O..my sorry thankfully Harley hasn't swallowed anything like that. I just wanted to say I was sorry to hear about Mason and I'm keeping my fingers
crossed. Like your vet said watch him for vomiting, but I would think watching for lack of bowel movements would be really important also maybe watch to see
if his belly gets really big like it would if he eat too much. GOOD LUCK!

I hope it will digest well in his stomach so he dont have to go to the vet. I hope he will be okay. Keep us posted.

Just from Scoob's incidents (swallowing stuff), vet will probably recommend two sets of x-rays (if you decide to go that way). One now and one later,
if it's in the stomach, to see if it's moving.

Hopefully it will pass with just a little or no discomfort. I know my bunch have ingested many non-edible items with no trouble. : )

so far he is trying to prance and jump aroung and play like his normal self. I have confined him to his crate for now though just to keep him still and maybe
put less stress on his digestive system. Don't know if any body else does this but I also crate him for 30 minutes after feeding to help reduce the chance
of bloat. I do know that he has passed a disposable razor before without adverse affects( darn dogs, they'll get into anything!! hehe)

I am sorry I cannot pass any advice..I am lucky and Havoc does not touch stuff that is not his and the stuff that is he does not want to eat just play with.
You and Mason are in my thoughts though and here is for a speedy exit...hehe...sorry could not resist.

I'm assuming you are talking about the Healthy Edibles Nylabone? If that is the case, it will digest like food. If you are talking about a regular
Nylabone, keep an eye on him. For what it's worth, we never use anything less than the SOUPER Nylabone and Sophie and Winston can plow through one of the
Healthy Edibles Soupers in about 20min.

Yeah they are the healthy edible one in bacon flavor. So far he hasn't vomited and he passed his poo this morning, kinda runny but so far the plumbing is
working. gave him half his usual for breakfast, and if he is doing fine this evening i'm gonna give him his regular amount. I'm very picky about his
treats, he's never had a rawhide or plastic chewbones or any of those smoked or flavored bone they sell in bulk. It is expensive tothem the good stuff, but
i think it is cheaper in the long run if you have problems with the cheapies. also, I feed him VF complete large breed puppy formula, was feeding Wellness but
it was getting a little hard on the wallet

I am glad to hear that you boy is doing awsome!, with the nylabone edibles, you dont have to worry, maybe a little runny stool if they are not used to them but
overall they will not hurt are babies.. If you are wanting a good chew toy I recomend the nylabone knuckles or the double action chews. Zeus really likes both
of his. and he likes to chew on them for a good while at my feet while I study or just chill watching tv.. Take care
