Hi all, I just found your forum as I am searching for answers. We have a 5 1/2 year old Dane named Chelsea. We returned from vacation this past Sunday and
Chelsea was in the kennel for 12 days, the longest she has ever been. The day after her return, she became ill and was vomiting and would not eat. She was very
tired, but always is for 2-3 days after she is in the kennel. I also noticed that the lynph nodes in her neck were very swollen. Although she tried to drink,
it was as though it was painful to swallow.
I took her to the vet yesterday (Tuesday) expecting to hear about a throat infection or possibly tonsils since she just came from the kennel. The vet
immediately mentioned Lymphoma and took needle biopsy of her nodes to be sent to the lab. He really did not check for anything else. He also put her on
antibiotics. Last night she was alittle better, ate some and did not get sick.
We are sick about the whole situation, and even though we will not find out the results until tomorrow, we are fearing the worse. The vet did not offer much
hope for treatment, but I have read that many dogs do respond well to chemo treatment for Lymphoma. Does anyone know if Danes in general respond well? We are
trying to prepare ourselves for the worst, but also want to take whatever steps we can for a treatment, if possible.
Thanks for your help.
Jeff
