Came home from work today and Jake was acting especially lethargic, red eyes and his back ribs were pushed out quite a bit. I immediately got worried and asked my gf if she had noticed anything abnormal and said he had been acting normal all day. We took him down to the vet and she said his stomach was a little firm, she's suspecting some gas and lowering the amount of food hes eating per day or perhaps feeding more smaller portions throughout the day. She gave him a shot of buphenorphine, to help relieve some pain and relax his bowels to release the suspected constipation and gas....lets hope it helps. He's been able to eliminate a pretty decent amount but hes still hauncing his back a little and the hair on his back is kinda sticking up and he ended up just laying in the grass for a bit, hopefully just because its cold. I was really suprised abou tthe buphenorphine after reading up on it it seems to be an opiate up there with methadone which is used to treat heroin addicts...seems like pretty hardcore stuff. Lets hope it works.
