Any sort of performance sport can be great fun. It's a great way to enjoy your dog while training.
While Danes aren't the most popular breed for agility, there are plenty of Danes titled in agility. Rally Obedience is a like a level of obedience competitions. Some of the differences in Rally vs. other AKC obedience classes is the scoring isn't as rigorous as traditional obedience, you move at your own pace (reading signs along the way, as opposed to listening to the judge call out directions) and, most importantly, unlimited communication between handler and dog is allowed. You can talk to your dog along the way. In other obedience levels, you can only give one command per exercise and you'll get penalized if you give any more. Rally is great fun and it a great starting point to get your feet wet in obedience. Have you already taken some obedience classes? If you liked your trainer, they would be a good source of info on advancing to competing. If you haven't taken any classes, or need a different trainer, AKC's website has helpful links to finding obedience clubs. Good luck! Bev |

Oooooh . . . this looks like fun! I'm sending off e-mails already! I'm sure Sox will just love Rally, and maybe Naomi too! But found a place that does
rally, obedience trials, and general training and CGC all in one place, and it's near me! Looks like Naomi will be soaring towards her hopeful TDI
certification (Therapy Dogs International). And if not, oh well. Still wonderful to have well-trained dogs.
