Anyone had any luck finding a good fish oil (not capsules) product? Something you can pour on their kibble?

I use the fish oil or flax oil capsules now but previously I got the flax oil in a bottle and found that at many places--Walgreens, Target, Walmart, (health
food stores had both oils but were so much more expensive).

I've heard flax oil isn't absorbed or utilized as easily fish oil. At least when I told my holistic vet Harly was getting flax and fish oil capsules -
she said don't bother with the expense of the flax seed oil. Could it be because it's a plant based oil insted of animal???

If you feed raw I would definitely stick with fish oil- flaxseed oil defeats the purpose of all meat.
http://www.canineperformancefuels.com/ offers a good quality salmon oil. I have not used it personally but I really need to get on it. The capsules I bought gave Tristen pretty awful gas... but I have about 100 of them.. gah. |

Fish oil is way to go and provides essential omega fatty acids. I'll admit that I regress at times to extra virgin olive oil, flax and coconut oils, to
keep my raw fed dogs pipes lubricated. A good Salmon oil will cost about 50 to 65-dollars per gallon. I know Oma's Pride has a Norwegian Salmon oil and
they have regional distributors, check out their site. That link Lauren posted has 1/2 gallon "32-oz" bottles available for 21 dollars (42 for a
gallon?). Not sure if that's a typo on their site but heck, that's a good deal by my eye

hi, I live in australia and everynight I pour oil from a sardines can all over the kibble and then the sardines on top, it comes with 3 tins for a $1.53 but
you must be careful to look for the one that says sardines in OIL not tomato sauce or any other sauce, good luck my dane is a Mantle and her coat is so shiny
and I am sure its great for the heart thats why I started using it, its with all the other tin fish in supermaket (might have to send some over to
you)....Angela

Thanks everyone!
I've been feeding salmon from the can mixed in with the EVO, about a can every 5 days. Not too bad at around 1.35 per can but was thnking maybe the pure oil would be cheaper. I agree Freddy - Harley's coat is very healthy!

I have never found any Fish oils in any pet stores or supermarkets. The only thing close to Fish oil that the supermarkets sells is Flax seed oil. I still use
flax seed oil for both my dogs, it works their coat is so slick and smooth and shiny

Nope, not a typo... Your math's off.
128 oz to a gallon.. so 32 oz is 1/4 of a gallon. 4 of those would be $84/gallon, so buying their $66.50 for a gal container would be the cheapest. |

LMAO Lauren, dang I'm getting old!
Yes, that's a great deal and to set the record straight Oma's Pride comes out to $118.56 per gallon (plus shipping). My mistake here, thanks for rattling my brain
