Posts: 65 Mar 8 08 2:51 PM	Tags : None Remove this ad Samson has developed a huge wart on his face near his eye...not only is it ugly, but it is growing and he scratches at it and it bleeds. Are there any home remedies? I really despise my vet and am looking for a qualified one.

Posts: 282 Mar 9 08 4:25 PM	It may be a small cyst, especially if it is still growing. Normally these are not too much of a problem, but near the eye would worry me. I would find yourself a good vet soon and explore your options. Sometimes they can just be drained and sometimes they need to be removed. I know a dog that has one about the size of a golf ball and he is a bichon so it really looks big on him, I swear every month it gets bigger and has a pulsing vein running over the top of it, I'm afraid to groom near that area fearing it might burst!!! EEEEEEWWWWW!!!!! I have heard too that they can also grow downward into the muscles and stuff under the skin. Hope I didn't scare you too bad, but if I were you I would get it checked out soon. Posts: 10 Apr 17 08 5:31 PM	My 4 month old has a wart above her eye. The vet doesn't want to remove it yet. I'm not so sure. It doesn't bother her but keeps opening and bleeding. What do you guys think Michelle I'll add a picture in a minute or 2 Michelle

Mecka has a little black colored growth on her right leg just above her ankle. I asked the vet if it was a wart but he was kind of non-committal about it. Posts: 238 Apr 21 08 7:04 AM	My puppy had the same thing but it was located on his chest/neck area. It started of rather small then just kept growing. It would get broken open occasionally when he either scratched it or when he played with our other dog. I got pretty ugly. When we took him in for his last round of puppy shots the vet took a look at it, and took a sample of it with a needle and confirmed that it wasn't anything to worry about unless it Oobie seemed to be bothered by it, and that sometimes they even disapear by themselves. We we didn't believe him, but didn't want Oobie to have to be put under (they said because of the size they would have to cauterize and because oobie is a hyper 90lb puppy they thought putting him under for the surgery would be better than trying to restrain him) for something that seemed to be bothering us (because it was UGLY) more than him. So we decided to plan on having it removed when we had him neutered. But lo and behold, it went away on its own within a month of that vet visit! I was amazed since it was the size of a quarter at the time of the vet visit. Long story short ... maybe it will go away on its own. I don't know if the vet taking a sample of it had any thing to do with it disappearing so quickly afterwards or if it was just a coincident, but I was thrilled that it was gone! AND hair grew right back over the spot within a few weeks. Good luck! J

Posts: 303 Apr 21 08 8:57 AM	Our vet has sally on a regimine of 400mg of grape seed extract (be sure it does not contain whole grapes!), 3000 mg of vit c and whatever the adult dose of l-lysine is. It seems to be helping although it does take a few weeks. Her issue is still not resolved. They apparently will go away on their own if left untreated but he felt the above protocol can be very effective.

Posts: 10 Apr 22 08 11:33 AM	Remove this ad Harley's wart has doubled in size in the last week and the front is open and it's starting to swell around the eye. I called the vet and she goes in tomorrow morning and he'll probably end up taking it off then. I'll let you know how we make out Michelle & Harley Michelle
