so...i'm the dumbest dane owner on the planet...well, i hope not but...see, our bassett, Charles, is not fixed. he's approx 9/10 months old, we
hadn't fixed him yet due to an unfortunate rat poison eatting incident. ...our dane Marley, just turned a year 12/31. consequently she just had her first
heat. That was something i had never actually experiences first hand...now i believe she is done...but her nipples are still swollen and she's sleeping a
lot. Now, i work most of the days so my partner is at home with the kids and dogs. Once we figured out that Marley was in heat...it wasn't hard...if the
changes in her body weren't enough, Charley constantly trying to hump her was plenty warning. We kept them seperate but i think there may have been a day
where they were kept in the same room sooooo..........Marley is either having a false pregnancy or she actually is pregnant....i'm hoping its the false one
cuz i dont want there to be any health issues for her. I have no idea what to do at this point. If she is pregnant it should be interesting...the legistics
of it are unfathomable in itself a bassett impregnating a great dane????? OMG.
on a side note, i know its completly irrisponsible to keep unfixed animals together...in my defence, he was scheduled for his "fixing" then he found rat poison...which was the plumbers fault (he left the cupboard open, however it is my fault the poison was there in the first place...i should just get a cat to get rid of mice lol.)...so charles almost died because he ate an entire box of the stuff...$400 later he is still alive, but the vet wanted me to wait a few months to make sure there would be no bleeding issues or anything of that nature...so we have an unfixed bassett, and an unfixed dane...who btw we had her scheduled to get fixed right before she went in heat. i swear ... the timing of things. and to make it a bit worse, we have to get rid of charley because MOM is moving in and she is allergic to him but not to our dane....ok, enough of ranting. i know nothing about puppy birth but what i've read so now its a waiting game. wish me luck.
