Here's the deal. Jax doesn't destroy furniture. I have no idea why he leaves it alone but knock on wood. However, he seems to seek out very specific objects while we are gone. Kitchen towels, any clothing available, and most recently...a picture and frame. We usually make a trip around the house to insure that there's nothing lying around for him to get. But he seems to find anything to satisfy his 'anxiety'. He has taken paper out of the printer, ball point pens, etc. How do you prevent this behavior? I have done the 'leave and come back' routine in which I increased the time I was gone and he didn't have a problem. But when I leave for more than 30 minutes, he seems to find something. Also, if I get everything out of reach..which can be time consuming as I have a 3 year old boy to clean up after, I can come home with no damage to anything....but not ALL the time. So it seems like he has these anxiety periods on a random basis. I leave exciting toys for him to no avail. I once left him a hard rubber twisted ball that he loves with treats hidden inside. He loves this thing. But when I got home he had destroyed some mail he took off the counter and is ball was sitting where I left it, treats and all. Any ideas how I can stop this behavior? I'm worried some day he's gonna tear into our couches which are leather.
